Falu Rödfärg Original is an easy-to-use residue pigment for painting untreated and unplaned spruce wood and for repainting surfaces previously painted with residue pigment. New prefabricated houses can be painted with Falu Rödfärg Original, provided that the facade is delivered without primer or is primed with residue pigment.
Falu Rödfärg Original is the only paint that contains pigments from Falu Mine. A natural product with 21 different minerals that together give the colour its unique properties. The result is a colour with a beautiful matte surface and a shine like no other facade paint. The pigment is also very stable and retains its beautiful tone year after year.
Unlike plastic and oil paints, Falu Rödfärg lives with its substrate. It allows the wood to breathe and follows it to move naturally in the sun, rain, snow, heat and cold. The naturally protective properties explain why Falu Rödfärg has become Sweden’s most loved outdoor paint.

Falu Rödfärg Original is a residue pigment, which is one of Sweden’s oldest and most used paint types. The paint provides a diffuse-open layer that allows the wood to breathe – it lets moisture in, but allows it to evaporate just as quickly. This minimises the risk of rot.
Falu Rödfärg Original is a paint that is easy to apply and maintain, and enjoys a long life. The paint should be a sacrificial layer. It is time to repaint the house when the colour pigment becomes loose on the surface in the form of “paint flakes”. It’s just a matter of brushing off any loose paint, preferably with a Falu Rödfärg steel scrubber, from your facade and repaint it.
Falu Rödfärg Original contains a unique pigment from Falu Mine. From copper-poor ore, which has weathered for centuries, “red dust” is formed, which in addition to copper contains a rare composition of more than twenty different natural minerals such as iron ore, silicic acid and zinc. The result is a paint with a beautiful matte surface with coarse silicic acid crystals that refract and reflect the rays of light. In warm sunlight, Falu Rödfärg’s color becomes intense and brilliant.
Falu Rödfärg is not just a building paint, it is Swedish cultural history in a can. The history of the red paint can be traced back to the 16th century. Since 1764, the paint has been manufactured in the same way and with the same recipe. Falu Rödfärg has left a unique mark on Sweden and the Swedish landscape like nothing else.

Best results are achieved when it is “fairly” warm and “fairly” dry. Do not paint on a surface warmed by the sun (the paint dries too quickly with the risk of flaking) or on wet wood (the moisture content should be below 18%). The minimum daily temperature for painting is +5° C.
New and untreated wood is primed with Falu Rödfärg Original diluted with 10-20% water. Use a new Falu Rödfärg paint brush that you dip into the paint and start working the paint into the wood in a thin layer.
Let the paint dry for at least a day and finish painting with undiluted paint.
When repainting, you can paint directly with undiluted paint on a cleaned surface. Paint thinly and work the colour in to ensure good coverage.
Falu Rödfärg Original is based on natural pigments and the colour may vary slightly between production batches. You may therefore want to change paint can when moving to different sides of the building. On nail heads and twigs, the colour may smudge during the first application, but will be covered by the second application or when repainting in a few years.
Stir the paint thoroughly before painting. Use clean tools to avoid getting bacteria in the paint.
Everyone paints at their own pace, but you can count on approximately three hours of painting work per 30 m², which corresponds to a 10-liter can of Falu Rödfärg Original.
