Falu Rödfärg Knut&Foder gives a beautiful matt surface and is mainly intended for use on house corners, lining and roof trims but is also suitable for other house carpentry. It is a waterborne dispersion paint based on linseed oil.
Many house trims, window linings and roof trims are today painted with oil paints. It gives a glossy, almost plastic surface that contrasts with a matte facade surface. Falu Rödfärg Knut&Foder has the same beautiful matte surface as Falu Rödfärg Original and Falu Rödfärg Träfasad, and together they create a uniformity that gives the house a more beautiful overall look.
Knut&Foder comes in nine colours that are traditional and carefully selected. The colour has been developed to interact in a balanced and natural way on houses painted with Falu Rödfärg Original or Falu Rödfärg Träfasad. These timeless colours preserve a centuries-old expression. And with its unique character, it helps create new, classic architecture.
If other colours are desired, the different colours can be mixed together to achieve the desired shade. Falu Rödfärg does not provide mixing recipes.
The paint has the properties of linseed oil paint and an appearance reminiscent of our residue pigment. For example, the finished paint layer does not form a dense film but allows the wood to breathe naturally, which means that moisture is not trapped inside to help avoid rot. Unlike old, pure linseed oil paint, Knut&Foder has higher breathability, which removes the risk of so-called linseed oil blisters.
Falu Rödfärg Knut&Foder is a waterborne diffuse-open paint based on linseed oil. This makes the colour very easy to work with and easy to apply out. Knut&Foder is not as sensitive to thick paint layers as a residue pigment paint. 1 litre of paint is enough for approximately 6-7 m². It can be used on both unplaned and planed wood.
This paint is used on some of the facade details that are most exposed to the weather and wear and tear where a robust and high-quality paint is required. It should last around 10-12 years before repainting is needed. Much naturally depends on how exposed the facade details are – with carpentry on one side of the house doing well for 15 years whereas carpentry on a very exposed side may need repainting after 6 years.
The linseed oil base in Knut&Foder means that the paint can be applied on many types of substrates, for example on wooden surfaces with aged alkyd, linseed oil paint or residue pigment paint, as well as on both unplaned and planed wood unpainted surfaces. However, it is not recommended that it be used on surfaces previously painted with so-called acrylate paint. Acrylate is “thermoplastic”, which means that it moves at different temperatures and thus can crack and flake.
